NINTENDO DSi FLASH CARDS
“What Flash Card to buy, where to buy it, how to upgrade it, and what kernel to load onto it.”
Well since the internet likes to be so confusing, and especially with things of this nature… I thought I needed to put my own info out there for everyone to read.
Step 1: Obtain the card
But an Acekard 2i, don’t ask me why. This is the best one… just buy it.
Here is the manufacturers site: http://www.acekard.com/
Buy it here: http://www.5thdimensionstore.com/products.php?sku=2
Step 2: Load the kernel
Download the kernel from here: http://normmatt.com/forum/ (Look for Akaio 1.5.1, this is the newest version when I am writing this article.)
There is also probably a download link here: http://www.acekard.com/download.php (At the time of writing this the newest version available here was 1.5)
After you have downloaded the kernel, extract all the files and copy them ALL directly onto the root of your SD card.
Step 3: Update your Acekard firmware to work with the DSi 1.4 software.
Download the update: http://www.mediafire.com/?n4nm0i5dmtm
After extracting, copy the file called ak2ifw_update_14_DSi_new.nds to your SD card.
Now put your SD card into your Acekard, and put the Acekard in any OLD DS, it can’t be a DSi with version 1.4, but anything else should do. DS Fat, DS Lite, DSi 1.3 or earlier.
Launch the Acekard, and navigate to the location you put ak2ifw_update_14_DSi_new.nds.
Follow the on screen instructions.
Your Acekard should now work on any DS or DSi.
Other notes:
Roms can go anywhere, I put them in a /roms folder on the root of my SD Card.
I get most my roms from: http://www.romulation.net/
NO the Acekard cannot play video files. If you want to do this look MoonShell or Tuna-viDS.
Here is a good list of homebrew: http://library.dev-scene.com/index.php?dir=DS/
